Build for Ukraine - IAP 2025
Build for Ukraine is a project-based, not-for-credit IAP class to be run like an extended hackathon that is open to all members of the MIT community. Week 1 will include daily lectures on the background of the war in Ukraine, along with specific challenge areas, including disinformation, energy resilience, prostheses, drone detection, and demining. At the end of the first week, participants will form teams to work on a specific challenge problem. Weeks 2-4 may have a few lectures as topics arise, but will be focused primarily on Thursday design reviews, culminating in final presentations on Thursday January 30th.
Projects may be extended into the spring or summer via UROP, MISTI, or other collaboration with external sponsors.
If you are familiar with MIT's other IAP offerings - think weblab/MASLab/Battlecode - but with much more freeform projects, no competition, and no VC funding.
We do not promise any fintech networking, giant checks, or even class t-shirts. We do promise high-impact and urgent challenges, and folks who want to make a difference.
Most meetings will take place at the MIT Innovation HQ (292 Main St.). Please view class calendar for updated lecture dates, times, and room locations, and contact us with any questions.
Registration is not required if attending one-off lectures.
